“ if ” ႏွင့္ ပတ္သက္တဲ့ အသံုးအႏႈန္းပံုစံ ေတြကို အဓိက ေျပာျပလုိပါသည္။ “if” ျဖင့္ေရးသားေသာ ဝါက်မ်ားကို Conditional Sentences(အေျခအေနေပး ဝါက်မ်ား) ဟုဆိုႏိုင္ပါသည္။ “if” ကို အဓိက အားျဖင့္ ပံုစံ(၃) မ်ိဳးျဖင့္ အသံုးျပဳႏိုင္ပါသည္။

1. If + simple present ---------- will/ shall/ can/ may …. + infinitive

If she asks me, I will help her.(သူ က အကူအညီေတာင္းရင္ ကၽြန္ေတာ္က သူ႔ကို ကူညီမွာေပါ့)

If you study hard, you will stand first.(မင္း ျပင္းျပင္းထန္ထန္ႀကိဳးစားရင္ အတန္းထဲမွာ ပထမ ရလိမ့္မယ္)

If it rains, we shall postpone our picnic.(မိုးရြာရင္ေတာ့ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႔ ေပ်ာ္ပြဲစားထြက္မွာကို ေရြ႕ရလိမ့္မယ္)

• ျဖစ္ႏိုင္ေခ်ရွိေသာ အနာဂတ္ အေျခအေနကို ေဖာ္ျပရာတြင္သံုးပါသည္။

2. If + past + subjunctive ---- would/ should/ might + infinitive

If he asked me, I would help him.(သူကၽြန္ေတာ့္ကို အကူအညီေတာင္းခဲ့ရင္ေတာ့ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ကူညီခဲ့မွာေပါ့)

If you studied hard, you would stand first.(မင္းသာ ျပင္းျပင္းထန္ထန္ ႀကိဳးစားခဲ့ရင္ မင္းအတန္းထဲမွာ ပထမ ရေလာက္တယ္)

If I were you, I should not do like that.(မင္းေနရာမွာ ငါသာဆိုရင္ အဲဒီလို လုပ္မွာ မဟုတ္ဘူး)

If I had a degree, I would get a job easily.(ကၽြန္ေတာ္သာ ဘြဲ႔ရခဲ့မယ္ဆိုရင္ အလုပ္ရွာရတာ လြယ္ေလာက္တယ္)

• ေမွ်ာ္လင့္လို႔ မရႏိုင္တဲ့ အျဖစ္အပ်က္၊ စိတ္ကူးယဥ္သက္သက္ တြင္သာသံုးပါသည္။

3. If + past perfect ---- would/ should + perfect

• မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ေတာ့တဲ့၊ ျပန္မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ေတာ့တဲ့ အတိတ္ အေျခအေနကို ညႊန္းသည့္ အေျခအေနတြင္ သံုးပါသည္
